#1U 1979 Baldwin Acrosonic Spinet 38" tall 58" wide 23" deep Pretty satin pecan cabinet with matching duet bench |
Perfect for your new student. Spinets made their first appearance in the early 1930s. These small, affordable pianos made it possible for people with little space or money to own pianos, and kept many pianos companies afloat during the darkest days of The Great Depression. Within a decade, spinets became the best selling piano design in history. As prosperity returned, the sun gradually set on the spinet until they became extinct. Baldwin was one of the last makers to make spinets, finally phasing out spinet production in the 1990s. Ours was built in 1979 and is in excellent condition. An ideal piano to get lessons under way.

#15U 1986 Kawai upright Model NS-10 48" tall 59" wide 25" deep Beautiful gloss ebony cabinet with matching bench |
If there are any bad sounding Kawai upright pianos, we haven't heard them. The used Kawai uprights we buy seem to go from strength to strength, and across the decades from the 1970s to the present. This beautiful Kawai upright, in addition to the tonal richness one expects from Kawai, also has a practice mute for late night/early morning practicing. At prices like this, our Kawai uprights usually don't hang around the shop for very long. Naturally, it's in phenomenally good condition, and is covered by our 10-year all parts and labor warranty. Of course, for the same money you could go out and buy a much smaller, significantly less refined new Kawai upright piano...but why would you want to?

If you've been looking for a really warm rich sounding vertical piano with a very responsive keyboard without breaking the bank, can you really afford to pass this one by? Of course, for the same money you could go out and buy a smaller, less refined new piano...but why would you want to?

#23U 1988 Yamaha upright Model MC10B1 48" tall 58" wide 25" deep Beautiful polished ebony cabinet with matching bench |
Think of this piano as a high-performance Yamaha U1, with improved tone and touch. Yamaha's equivalent piano today is called the YUS1 and sells new for $13,999. An experienced classical pianist might describe the tone as having more "color" or having a larger "tonal palette" than the typical U1 model. A less experienced pianist may not be conscious of these things but may notice that musical expression happens more easily on this piano than a lesser instrument, thus facilitating learning. Models like this are tough to keep in stock as piano for very long. They combine high performance and an affordable price into one irresistible package. Fortunately for you, we go out of our way to get them, though they are few and far between. This one has been lightly used and lovingly maintained and looks and plays like a new piano. Like everything we sell, it comes with our bulletproof 10-year all parts and labor warranty. How can you go wrong?

#24U 1968 Yamaha upright Model U3 52" tall 60" wide 25" deep Beautiful polished ebony cabinet matching duet bench |
You're looking at one of the great values, and one of the most sought after pianos of all time. That's right, the legendary U3. With its powerful bass, singing treble, and sensitive keyboard, this piano will not only serve your student's needs (and will put a big toothy grin on your teacher's face) but will satisfy much more advanced pianists as well. The Yamaha U series, especially the U3, are requested by more teachers shopping with their students than all other pianos combined. This piano was lightly used and well cared for, as the unused appearance of the original Yamaha factory hammers will reveal (look at the slide show pictures below). With pianos like this available at our shop, all with our 10-year warranty and famous lifetime full value trade-up guarantee, there's no reason to fork over big bucks to buy a new piano, is there?

#25U 1976 Yamaha upright Model X 52" tall 60" wide 25" deep Beautiful polished ebony cabinet with matching bench |
The much requested and seldom seen Yamaha X was the first of many models that utilized the radial back-post design, which improved frame rigidity and produced a tone that is a bit more intense than the average U3. It is considered one of the best vertical pianos ever made and is based on the same internal design as a very popular U3. The tone is full and but not overly bright and the touch is characteristically agile and sensitive. Like everything we sell, it's in like-new condition and is covered nationwide by our 10-year warranty all parts and labor.

#29U 1996 Kawai upright Model X0-5 49" tall 60" wide 25" deep Beautiful polished ebony cabinet with matching bench |
This piano is essentially a slightly smaller version of the outrageously popular Kawai US-50 model seen elsewhere in this gallery, but with sound vents hidden behind the extra large music rack. Models like this and the full-size US-50 have a depth and richness of tone that seems far greater that one would expect from other pianos this size. Like everything we sell, it comes with our ironclad 10-year all parts and labor warranty and full value lifetime trade-up guarantee. Sound too good to be true? It's not.

#30U 1985 Yamaha upright Model UX-1 48" tall 58" wide 25" deep Beautiful polished ebony cabinet with matching bench |
From time to time in this gallery, you may notice unusual Yamaha upright models like this piano. Models like this are high-performance versions of an existing model, like the U1 in this case. The most distinguishing feature of the "X" models like this piano are the radial back-posts found in back of the piano (see picture slideshow below) which add about 70 lbs to the weight of the piano and improve tone projection, power, sustain and tuning stability. The result is a noticeable upgrade in tone and touch from the basic U1 that will be very obviously to the experienced player. The presence of sound vents in the front panel further add to the vivid tone of these models. We often jokingly refer to Yamaha models like this as being like a U1 on steroids. If you play, we think you'll know the minute you put your hands on the keyboard that you're in the presence of a superior upright piano.

Like everything we sell, it comes with our ironclad 10-year all parts and labor warranty and full value lifetime trade-up guarantee. Sound too good to be true? It's not.

#37U 1978 Yamaha upright Model X 52" tall 60" wide 25" deep Beautiful polished ebony cabinet with matching bench |

#38U 1982 Yamaha upright Model YUS 48" tall 58" wide 25" deep Beautiful polished ebony cabinet with matching bench |
This Yamaha model is a high-performance version of the best-selling U1 model, and comes across like a turbo-charged U1 on steroids, with a huge, robust tone, an especially full-throated bass, a wonderfully weighted and responsive keyboard and a vented front panel for more vivid sound. Ideal for the advanced pianist or student. If you play at more than a beginner level, you will know the minute you put your hands on the keyboard that you're in the presence of a superior upright piano.

#40U 1989 Yamaha upright Model MC10B1 48" tall 58" wide 25" deep Beautiful polished ebony cabinet with matching bench |
