Steinway’s Model O was discontinued in 1921 shortly after this piano was built and replaced with the Model L for the remainder of the 20th Century. (In the early 2000s, Steinway discontinued the Model L and returned the Model O to service, albeit with a new price tag of $106,700 for the least expensive ebony finish seen here). This Steinway O was refinished, repinned, and restrung. It also received new white keytops several years before we acquired it. Otherwise, it is entirely original. We checked the piano thoroughly for problems and re-regulated the action to factory specs. Rather than adding any new parts to this piano, which is not necessary at this time and would add thousands to the price, we have decided to offer this piano for an unusually low price for a used Steinway O at this shop. If you have not been keeping up with new piano prices, the current price for a new Steinway O with an ebony finish is $106,700. Even with an improbably generous discount from a new Steinway dealer, you would end up paying 4-5 times the price of this piano, and yet have only the five-year warranty Steinway offers with its new pianos.
