Ideal for new students, the spinet design made its first appearance in the 1930s. These small, affordable pianos made it possible for people without much money, living in small apartments to own pianos. Spinet sales kept many pianos companies from going out of business during the darkest days of The Great Depression. By the middle of the 20th Century, spinets were the best-selling piano design in America. As prosperity returned and tastes changed, the spinet design was gradually discontinued by most piano makers until they became entirely extinct in the early 1990s. Here at Rick Jones Pianos, excellent condition used spinets like this are an ideal way to get lessons underway without breaking the bank.
