The rare Yamaha U7 is one of the most capable upright models in Yamaha’s long history, and a true rarity here in our world of used pianos. Rarer still is to find a Yamaha U7 with a teak finish. This piano is designed for the demanding pianist or teacher who would prefer a grand piano but must have an upright. Unlike nearly every other upright model on the market, the Yamaha U7 offers individual agraffes from note 1 through 88 (see picture slideshow above) and a genuine sostenuto pedal, two features normally found only on grand pianos, and not even all of those either. This model is the closest thing to grand piano capability in a vertical piano form that we have in stock. The well-defined bass, sweet treble, and responsive keyboard are capable of meeting the requirements of everyone from students to professional pianists. If you wanted to buy Yamaha’s top-of-the-line vertical model today, that would be the SU7 with a jaw-dropping MSRP of $39,999. The second most top-of-the-line Yamaha model today is the YUS5, which is priced more modestly at $20,999. Of, if you’re smart, you can buy this piano for less than 1/2 of that amount, and still get benefits such as a 10-year warranty on all parts and labor PLUS a lifetime upgrade guarantee. This piano is in barely-used condition inside and out with decades of healthy life ahead of it. With pianos like this available at our shop, there’s no reason to break the bank to buy a new, overpriced new piano.
