Do you have a piano that you want to sell?

Rick Jones Pianos may be interested in acquiring your piano. Photos are very helpful in expediting our decision. You can attach up to 20 photos to this form. Please be sure to include some photos of the inside of the piano.

We are specifically interested in the following piano brands:

  • Boston
  • Essex
  • Baldwin
  • Pearl River
  • Cristofori

Please understand that we cannot use:

  • Organs
  • Digital pianos
  • Square grand pianos
  • Pianos with fewer than 88 keys
  • Old player pianos (the kind that use paper rolls)
  • Pianos that have been abandoned in garages or basements
  • Big old upright pianos (a.k.a. “upright grands”, “cabinet grands”, “saloon pianos”)
  • Pianos that are wildlife sanctuaries for mice, cockroaches, or fish (the less common artificial reef piano)

In most pianos, the serial number will be a five, six or seven digit number. With grand pianos, remove the music desk completely to find the serial number near the tuning pins. Often, the model number will be located in the same area. With upright pianos, open the lid and the serial number should be in plain view near the tuning pins.
If you don't know what to ask, enter "Don't know".
If you have several sets of non-contiguous steps, for example, 4 steps up inside and 6 steps down outside, you can enter "4 up + 6 down". Also, you can explain the details in the Additional Comments field below.

Max. file size: 100 MB, Max. files: 20.
Please take clear, focused, flash photos of the INSIDE of the piano as well the OUTSIDE. With grand pianos, open the lid, remove the music rack and take pictures of the tuning pins, serial number, strings and soundboard area. The more detail, the better. With upright pianos, open the lid and take photos of the tuning pins, the serial number and hammers. Then completely close your piano and take photos of the cabinet from all angles.

If you are unable to upload photos to this form for any reason, you can email them separately to [email protected]
If you need a certified appraisal for legal purposes such as insurance claims, estate sales, divorce settlements, or tax deductions for charitable donations, we recommend hiring a Registered Piano Technician (RPT) with the Piano Technicians Guild to perform an onsite inspection and appraisal.
This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
