This impressive piano is part of the same class of Kawai upright models that includes the enormously popular Kawai US-50. To the casual observer, the most obvious improvement this model offers over the US-50 is sound vents behind the music rack. Often nicknamed “super uprights” (52″ full-size uprights that have extra girth, extra power, and a large oversize, grand piano-style music rack), these extra-chunky models made by Kawai over the years were made to be the closest thing to a grand piano in an upright form.
